BRAMPTON - Queen's Park has provided the Central West Local Health Integration Network with more than $5 million to ensure residents in Brampton and surrounding areas have better access to community-based health services closer to home.
The $5,237,579 in additional funds for the Central West LHIN for 2008/09 is part a $127-million investment in health care services across the province that officials say will be delivered to a variety of locations within the community.
With high demand for services such as addiction treatment and home care, this funding will provide better care for some of our most vulnerable citizens.
"The Central West LHIN continues to work with our health service providers to ensure that we have the proper resources in place to meet our communities' health service needs," said Joe McReynolds, Board Chair of the Central West LHIN. The additional funding for the Central West area includes $1,748,233 for long-term care homes, $2,676,416 for home care services through Community Care Access Centres, $71,804 for community support services and $5,625 for acquired brain injury services.
