BRAMPTON -

Peel Region H1N1 vaccination clinics will be shut down for a few days starting Sunday so health officials can stock up on the vaccine, public health announced this afternoon.

Public Health will close clinics between Nov. 8 and Nov 11, because it doesn’t have enough vaccine to operate.

During that time, health officials encourage residents in high priority groups to contact their family doctor and ask if they have the vaccine.

Peel is one of many public health units across the country to experience a vaccine shortage.

Clinics will re-open with new hours on Nov. 12 and run to Nov. 14.

Peel’s four main clinics – the Brampton Soccer Centre and 11 Indell Lane in Brampton, and the International Centre and Blessed Trinity Catholic School in Mississauga – will be open Thursday and Friday from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

When the clinics re-open, priority will continue to be given to:

* People under 65 years of age with chronic medical conditions and their caregivers

* People who live with infants under 6 months of age, immunocompromised people and those who cannot be vaccinated

* Children one year to 5 years of age

* Health care workers

A complete schedule is available at www.peelregion.ca or by calling 905-799-7700.
