Vehicle strikes two seniors crossing street

BRAMPTON - Two senior citizens are being treated for injuries at Brampton Civic Hospital after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street Friday afternoon.
The husband, 81, and wife, 77, of Brampton, were run down by a Honda Civic at 4:43 p.m. while crossing Ray Lawson Boulevard at Cherry Tree Drive at a crosswalk.
Peel police Cst. Jodi Dawson said the couple was facing green lights when the vehicle made contact.
“The driver of the vehicle made a left turn from northbound Cherry Tree onto westbound Ray Lawson, and struck both pedestrians,” she told

The victims were transferred to Brampton Civic Hospital with non-life threatening injuries; the male suffered a broken leg and head injuries and the female suffered facial lacerations and head injuries.
Paramedics, Peel police and Brampton firefighters were on scene shortly before 5 p.m., and Ray Lawson was closed to traffic until 10 p.m.
The 48-year-old male driver of Brampton remained on scene, and was charged with careless driving.
