Do you have an hour a month when you could share the happiness your dog or cat brings you with seniors in retirement and nursing homes? Therapeutic Paws of Canada is an organization that will provide you with that opportunity. If you enjoy speaking with seniors and have a gentle dog that loves to be petted and enjoys meeting people, please consider volunteering some of your time to TPOC. Registration is now on for Brampton Library's fall computer and Internet workshops for beginners and people who want to refresh their skills. Sessions run Wednesday nights at the Four Corners branch or Thursday evenings at the Chinguacousy location. Seniors-only workshops are offered on Monday mornings at Chinguacousy. The Marriage Course is once again being offered at Bramalea Baptist Church starting Sept. 24. This eight-week course is very practical and designed to look into the important issues in your marriage. Each week couples are given the opportunity to enjoy a special meal together and listen and talk, as a couple, (there is no group work). The Marriage Course is now being run in 60 countries and is based on The Marriage Book which has sold over 52,000 copies since it was published in 2000. Al-Anon and Alateen is for people who are troubled by someone else's drinking. Based on the Twelve steps of Alcoholics anonymous, Al-Anon Family Groups (which includes Alateen for younger members) provides non-professional, free and confidential support for families and friends or problem drinkers. One of their meetings is weekly on Monday evenings at 8 p.m. For information call 416-410-3809.
African Community Services of Peel, a non-profit community based charitable organization, is happy to announce that it is now offering a HOST Program services for newcomers to Canada.
