Transit rider dismayed

I read with interest the article on Brampton Transit service improvements (The Guardian, Aug. 24, 2008).
Firstly, Brampton Transit has decided to duplicate GO Transit's frequent, timely and day-long route to York University with just four morning buses, taking almost double the time to arrive at their destination. Why?
Secondly, you have failed to mention the cancellation of the 6 Mackay and 91 GO Shuttle A routes. As an 11-year user of the 91, I am now struggling to find a timely route to catch the 7:15 a.m. train from the Bramalea GO Station. Long ago, I learned the harsh reality of public transit when a Brampton Transit driver explained to me it was his job to get me to the station; it was not his job to get me to the station on time to catch my train and I made adjustments to deal with this reality.
Brampton Transit's e-mail solution to my dilemma is to be at my local bus stop by 6:18 a.m. to ensure catching the 7:15 a.m. train. All this for a 5 km trip?
I have supported public transit in Brampton for more than 11 years. However, I find Brampton Transit's dogged refusal to work in harmony with GO Transit to produce a seamless system incredibly frustrating. This latest round of "improvements" may be the final step to push me from a transit user to a car user.
