Gymnastics club needed

It is distressing that the Brampton Gymnastics Club (BGC), an honoured institution in Brampton, is falling upon hard times.
The City of Brampton is to be commended for its historical support of recreation and arts in our community, although I have reservations that “the city is moving as quickly as it possibly can”.
By its own admission, the city is not willing to invest in restoring the current facility, yet it still saw fit to charge $4,600 rent each month on a building that probably should have been condemned years ago.
We do seem to have a rather large facility in the Brampton Fair Grounds that appears to be chronically under used.
As a matter of fact, we also have an unused hospital that might be suitable for their operations.
There is however another potential solution to this drama.
Our provincial Liberals seem to have a rather good track record of supporting amateur athletics in Brampton as evidenced by their $900,000 overpayment to a Brampton cricket organization, an overpayment of which they never really sought reimbursement.
I would suggest that the Brampton Gymnastics Club immediately change their name to the Brampton Gymnastics and Cricket Club (BGCC) and rush off a letter to Premier Dalton McGuinty appealing for support.
