BRAMPTON - It was a tough decision for judges of the very first Enviro-Art Contest, hosted by Visual Arts Brampton and Shoppers World- but winners were narrowed down to six entries that best fit the criteria outlined for the contest.
Artists of all ages and skill level were asked to enter their interpretations of all or one of the following criteria:
- art depicting awareness of ecological/environmental issues
- art depicting humans' relation to/impact on the environment
- art created using environmentally friendly/sustainable/reused media.
Judges selected one first-place finalist and five runners-up, each awarded a congratulatory letter and gift certificate for Shoppers World.
The winners are:
- First place- Ethan Peluso for "The earth cries out, won't you help?"
- Runner up- Olivia Pietrangelo for "Putting paper back into trees"
- Runner up- Daniel Battaglia for "Without care today could become tomorrow"
- Runner up- Ian Eubanas for "World BBQ Day"
- Runner up- Paulina Su for "City Imprisons Nature"
- Runner up- Stephanie Czolij for "Untitled"
The Enviro-Art exhibit will be on display at Visual Arts Brampton's Fridge Front Gallery in Shoppers World for the month of September.
Look for upcoming issues of The Guardian for interviews with the winners of the contest.
