BRAMPTON - The provincial government has appointed several judges to the Ontario Court of Justice, including an appointment in Brampton.
Effective July 23, Madam Justice C. Ann Nelson will preside in Brampton. Nelson was called to the Bar in 1980 and has specialized in family law.
She helped organize a collaborative family law program in Toronto and has represented hundreds of children as a panel member of the Office of the Children’s Lawyer.
Nelson was also a hearing officer for the Ontario Child Abuse Register, co-authored a book on children’s law and served as chair of the Centre for Child and Family Mediation.
Judges of the Court deal with a wide range of family law cases, including child protection, custody, access, support and adoption, as well as the overwhelming majority of criminal charges laid within Ontario.
