Peel police have made an arrest in last month’s stabbing of a motorist stopped for a red light at a busy Brampton intersection.
Christien Williams, 19, of no fixed address was wanted on an arrest warrant issued the day after the stabbing. He turned himself in to police Tuesday. He has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a dangerous weapon.
Investigators say the attack was not random.
The rush hour assault happened just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12 at the intersection of Bovaird Drive and Main Street North.
The victim was a 21-year-old Ajax man. He was driving west on Bovaird, and so was his assailant. Police say they were in separate vehicles, stopped for a red light at Main Street, when the attacker got out of his car and approached the victim.
Witnesses watched in horror as the victim was stabbed through his car window several times. He suffered stab wounds to his arm and stomach before he was able to drive away, according to police.
A witness called 9-1-1 and the victim was found in his car on a nearby side street. He survived the attack.
