An unidentified male has died after he was found suffering stab wounds at a vacant construction area at the dead end of Humberwest Parkway Tuesday afternoon.
The male had no identification, so Peel police were working last night to figure out who he is.
The male was discovered by a construction worker at 3:45 p.m. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead. Identification officers were combing the area through the evening and conducting a door-to-door canvass.
It’s the ninth murder in Brampton this year. Mississauga has seen 15 homicides in 2008, bringing the total for Peel police to 24.
It’s record territory for the local police department. So much so, a special information session has been called by Peel Police Services Board Chair Emil Kolb on Thursday where Chief Mike Metcalf will respond to inquiries about the 2008 homicide rate.
Metcalf will spend one hour briefing Peel politicians at the Region of Peel administrative building on Peel Centre Drive.
Brampton has seen an annual average of five homicides in recent years.
