Brampton West recount scheduled for Nov. 3

The judicial recount for the federal riding of Brampton West has been scheduled to start Nov. 3.
The recount could take between three and four days, according to court officials.
Brampton West Liberal Andrew Kania (21,739) defeated Conservative Kyle Seeback (21,516) by just 223 votes for a seat in the House of Commons, according to Elections Canada figures.
It's not a small enough margin to trigger an automatic recount, but less than a week after the Oct. 14 federal election, Seeback made an application for a recount in Brampton's Superior Court saying the validation rules were not followed the day after the election. Because of that, he said, he was unable to question what he called an inordinately high number of rejected and spoiled votes.
Mr. Justice Peter Daley heard evidence over two days from both Seeback's lawyer and a lawyer representing Kania, and ruled Oct. 21 that a recount should be done.
