Brampton MP Ruby Dhalla is considering making a bid for leadership of the federal Liberal Party.
The Brampton-Springdale MP's name has been mentioned among possible candidates for the position. Following the party's dismal performance in last October's federal election, current Party Leader Stephane Dion announced his departure and dropped the flag on another leadership race.
On Thursday, Dhalla responded to speculation about her entering the race by releasing a statement that indicated she was contemplating running.
"There are many factors I need to consider," she said. "I am currently consulting with supporters and senior Liberals from coast to coast as to what the future holds. I will be making my decision public in the near future."
