BRAMPTON - Brampton – Investigators from 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have successfully identified several people responsible for what is believed to be a prolific auto theft ring. In response to a dramatic increase in vehicle thefts throughout the first four months of 2007, 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau officers initiated a project directed at identifying the suspects responsible for the ongoing thefts.
The four week operation culminated with the arrest of 15 suspects. Arrest warrants have been issued for an additional 5 suspects. A total of 37 charges have been filed to date and a total of twenty vehicles were recovered.
The stolen vehicles involved are predominately Honda and Acura makes, constructed within the years 1990 to 1997. Investigators would like to remind the public to always lock you’re car and strongly recommend you take the extra steps necessary to protect your vehicle from theft.
