Provincial hoops final this weekend in Brampton

BRAMPTON - Let the May Madness begin.
The best under-16 major midget boys basketball teams in the province are coming to Brampton this weekend.
The Brampton Minor Basketball Association (BMBA) are hosting the Basketball Ontario provincial championships from Friday to Sunday.
Eight-eight teams are competing in six divisions for the provincial titles. Teams are ranked based on their league and tournament results and placed in a division.
The top 12 teams are in Division 1, and so on to Division 6. There are two Brampton Blue Devils teams entered in division 2. Blue Devils No. 1 are seeded No. 1 in division 2 while Blue Devils No. 2 team is the seventh seed in division 2.
The Bounce/CIA based in Brampton also has two teams entered. The No. 1 team is seeded No. 9 in division 1. The second team is the No. 4 seed in division 3.
With so many games there are 17 facilities being used mostly in Brampton, and some in Mississauga. The tournament kicks off Friday at 4:30 p.m. with the Blue Devils No. 1 facing Kingston Impact at Sheridan College.
Games continue on Friday and Saturday with each team guaranteed three games. The top two teams in each pool advance to quarterfinals on Saturday evening with semifinals and finals on Sunday. All six gold-medal games are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

There are more than 60 volunteers helping out but organizers could still use more help from students to work the reception desk or concession stands, details can be found at the above web site.
There is no admission charge to attend and spectators are welcome.
