BRAMPTON - As the Canadian market prepares for the arrival of the highly anticipated second generation all new 2008 smart fortwo in showrooms this November, the smart Division of Mercedes-Benz Canada is set to kick off its smart Test Drive Tour that began Oct. 5.

Mercedes-Benz Canada President and CEO, Marcus Breitschwerdt said, "The first generation smart fortwo has been an outstanding success in Canada; we have sold in excess of 10,000 fortwos since the launch of the brand three years ago.

"Despite this remarkable accomplishment, we know there are still consumers out there who are unaware of the brand or may not know much about the smart fortwo. This Test Drive Tour road show will enable us to once again showcase the smart brand and the all new smart fortwo's impressive technology, its innovative leadership, its exciting performance and its proven safety track record."

Traveling to seven major cities across Canada, the tour will start in the East with Montreal and Ottawa as the first two stops. It will then move on to Toronto and, then head to Vancouver via Edmonton and Calgary to conclude in Victoria on Nov. 6.

A seven-person team from the AMCI agency will be conducting the cross-Canada tour on behalf of smart Canada.

The next generation 2008 smart fortwo offers additional comfort and agility and sets new standards in safety and ecology thanks to a host of advances that complement a dynamic and more aggressive look.

The tridion safety cell, esp, brake assist, active safety systems, advanced seats with integral seat belts, full-size driver and passenger airbags, side airbags and head/thorax side airbags are some of the key safety features offered on the second generation models.
